Narrative:

The first officer loaded the wrong cruise altitude into the FMC during preflight. I was rushed and only checked the routing, not the altitude, therefore when we were cleared to FL370, I did not double-check the FMC altitude which was FL330. The crew got distracted during leveloff and did not catch the fact that we leveled off at FL330 rather than the assigned FL370. ATC asked if we were going to continue climb. After confirming FL370, we continued the climb. There was no conflict and ATC seemed unconcerned, yet I was somewhat shocked and embarrassed that this error went unnoticed.
