Narrative:

We (the flight crew) did not switch to tower frequency at dfw prior to landing, we switched after turning off the runway. Dfw approach cleared us for a visual to runway 17C and to parallel a brasilia. Parallel approachs are not common at dfw, so we were concerned with separation from the brasilia. Approach did not tell us to switch and we did not notice the error in time. There was no conflict with any aircraft in-flight or on the ground.
