Narrative:

I was on an air carrier flight inbound to pit. The controller (pit approach) was shortcutting the aircraft call sign. The captain missed several radio calls because of the controller's pronunciation. First officer did catch the calls. Controller needs to tighten up on phraseology.

Title: DURING FAMILIARIZATION TRIP AN ATC RPTR NOTED NONSTANDARD PHRASEOLOGY BEING USED BY THE ARR CTLR AT PIT. THIS SHORTCUTTING OF CALL SIGNS CAUSED THE CREW TO MISS SEVERAL XMISSIONS BEING DIRECTED TO THEIR FLT.

Narrative: I WAS ON AN ACR FLT INBOUND TO PIT. THE CTLR (PIT APCH) WAS SHORTCUTTING THE ACFT CALL SIGN. THE CAPT MISSED SEVERAL RADIO CALLS BECAUSE OF THE CTLR'S PRONUNCIATION. FO DID CATCH THE CALLS. CTLR NEEDS TO TIGHTEN UP ON PHRASEOLOGY.
