Narrative:

After deicing 3 times, we were cleared to taxi from the deice pad on the east end of the ramp into position and hold on runway 28L. The RVR was about 4000 ft. We made a right turn from the pad onto the runway and lined up on runway 23 by mistake instead of taxiing through the pad where we normally hold short of runway 28L. The thresholds of these runways are about 500 ft apart. We were cleared for takeoff and started our roll. When the tower saw we were on the wrong runway, they called us by radio and we stopped. The tower cleared us to make a 180 degree turn on about 2000 ft from where we started. Then we were cleared into position on runway 28L. After completing the checklist again, we departed on runway 28L. Although we both had the airport diagrams in front of us and I was familiar with the airport, we confused runway 23 with runway 28 and got on the wrong runway. This could have been prevented if I had verified the runway heading on the compass when we turned onto the runway.

Title: AFTER DEICING 3 TIMES THE FLC MADE A R TURN FROM THE PAD ONTO RWY 23 INSTEAD OF RWY 28L AT CMH. THE FLC COMMENCED TKOF ON RWY 23 BEFORE THE TWR TOLD THEM THEY WERE TAKING OFF ON THE WRONG RWY. THE FLC STOPPED AND TOOK OFF ON RWY 28L.

Narrative: AFTER DEICING 3 TIMES, WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI FROM THE DEICE PAD ON THE E END OF THE RAMP INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 28L. THE RVR WAS ABOUT 4000 FT. WE MADE A R TURN FROM THE PAD ONTO THE RWY AND LINED UP ON RWY 23 BY MISTAKE INSTEAD OF TAXIING THROUGH THE PAD WHERE WE NORMALLY HOLD SHORT OF RWY 28L. THE THRESHOLDS OF THESE RWYS ARE ABOUT 500 FT APART. WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF AND STARTED OUR ROLL. WHEN THE TWR SAW WE WERE ON THE WRONG RWY, THEY CALLED US BY RADIO AND WE STOPPED. THE TWR CLRED US TO MAKE A 180 DEG TURN ON ABOUT 2000 FT FROM WHERE WE STARTED. THEN WE WERE CLRED INTO POS ON RWY 28L. AFTER COMPLETING THE CHKLIST AGAIN, WE DEPARTED ON RWY 28L. ALTHOUGH WE BOTH HAD THE ARPT DIAGRAMS IN FRONT OF US AND I WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT, WE CONFUSED RWY 23 WITH RWY 28 AND GOT ON THE WRONG RWY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF I HAD VERIFIED THE RWY HDG ON THE COMPASS WHEN WE TURNED ONTO THE RWY.
