Narrative:

We were cleared for visual approach and cleared to land on runway 23 5 mi on final. About 2 mi on final we were informed that an L382 military aircraft was taking off on runway 18L which intersected runway 23. We then realized that this was a formation takeoff and a second aircraft was cleared for takeoff. The tower asked the L382's if there was going to be any delay on the runway and they said no. We continued the approach and the first L382 cleared the intersection of runway 23 and runway 18L. While we were 1 plus mi on final as we continued inbound the tower queried the second L382 and he indicated no delay. About 15 seconds after the first aircraft rolled, the second aircraft rolled. It appeared we would join forces at the intersect and I ordered a go around. We passed about 500 ft directly over the L382. If there is a built-in delay on formation takeoffs then ATC should be advised. We should have been advised.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH AND CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 23 5 MI ON FINAL. ABOUT 2 MI ON FINAL WE WERE INFORMED THAT AN L382 MIL ACFT WAS TAKING OFF ON RWY 18L WHICH INTERSECTED RWY 23. WE THEN REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A FORMATION TKOF AND A SECOND ACFT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. THE TWR ASKED THE L382'S IF THERE WAS GOING TO BE ANY DELAY ON THE RWY AND THEY SAID NO. WE CONTINUED THE APCH AND THE FIRST L382 CLRED THE INTXN OF RWY 23 AND RWY 18L. WHILE WE WERE 1 PLUS MI ON FINAL AS WE CONTINUED INBOUND THE TWR QUERIED THE SECOND L382 AND HE INDICATED NO DELAY. ABOUT 15 SECONDS AFTER THE FIRST ACFT ROLLED, THE SECOND ACFT ROLLED. IT APPEARED WE WOULD JOIN FORCES AT THE INTERSECT AND I ORDERED A GAR. WE PASSED ABOUT 500 FT DIRECTLY OVER THE L382. IF THERE IS A BUILT-IN DELAY ON FORMATION TKOFS THEN ATC SHOULD BE ADVISED. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADVISED.
