Narrative:

During the climb to cruise phase of flight out of mci airport to yip airport on mar/thu/96, we (the crew) were empty and returning to our home base from a delivery when our #2 engine started surging and the respective 'beta' for it illuminated. When shutting off the propeller synchronizing system failed to eliminate the situation, we shut the engine down with the emergency shutdown handle and elected to continue the flight based on the favorable fuel, wind and WX conditions.
