Narrative:
Returning to cgf on a training flight to mfd. Earlier, had gone to mfd by navigating around and over cleveland's class B. Did not receive the DME on 109.9 (upon which class B limits are based) either going or coming and guessed it may have been OTS. Later realized that I had mistakenly tuned 110.9. Decided to call cle approach for flight following and clearance through class B, and gave my position relative to cxr VOR. Discovered I was well inside class B and 500 ft below the upper limit! The cause was my mistuning the DME and not being more aware of cleveland's class B proximity to mfd, and a strong west wind which brought me into the area quickly. In a word, carelessness.

Title: WHILE GIVING TRAINING IN A TURBOPROP, A FLT INSTRUCTOR INADVERTENTLY PENETRATED CLASS B AIRSPACE. AFTER-THE-FACT IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT HE HAD MISTUNED A FREQ THAT WOULD HAVE PROVIDED CLASS B BOUNDARY ORIENTATION THROUGH THE USE OF DME. UNAUTH PENETRATION OF CLASS B AIRSPACE.
