Narrative:

While conducting a night VFR approach to rzt, I reduced power slightly early and the aircraft touched down on grass and sod surface approximately 20 ft prior to runway threshold. I feel that the conditions of night and rain affected my judgement of ht and distance. Fatigue affected performance. Situation could have been avoided by maintaining aircraft on PAPI GS.
