Narrative:

After landing and clearing runway 25L to taxiway F, ground control was saturated. After holding on taxiway F for many mins trying to get clearance to continue down taxiway F (a clear taxiway), I decided the safer course of action was to proceed very slowly and carefully along, while we continued to attempt to obtain ground control clearance. The taxi took 19 mins to taxi about 8000 ft! I called the tower chief to report the ground control problem and he indicated he had no problem with what we did.
