Narrative:

Aircraft landed on runway 36L at clt and exited at taxiway E8. Instructed to enter ramp at taxiway E11 and contact ramp control. We informed ramp control that our gate was occupied, ramp control instructed us to hold behind a B737 on extension of taxiway E12. Traveling south on ramp I deviated slightly to the left of taxi-line to avoid a stationary sanding truck. I then attempted a 90 degree left turn to position my aircraft behind the aircraft on taxiway E12. At that point the aircraft became unresponsive to both steering and braking inputs. The aircraft began to slide and continued off the taxiway onto the grass and stopped. Taxiway had some sand along taxi-line but it appears that there was none on other parts of the ramp. I feel that the jet wash from aircraft stationary on taxiway E12 contributed to my aircraft's inability to respond to steering and braking commands on icy taxiway. There were no injuries and no aircraft damage. I recommend that all aircraft movement be limited to those areas that have been adequately sanded.

Title: B737-400 SLIDES OFF ICY TXWY WHILE MANEUVERING AROUND PARKED SANDING TRUCK. PWR FROM A PARKED ACFT MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE SLIDING MOTION.

Narrative: ACFT LANDED ON RWY 36L AT CLT AND EXITED AT TXWY E8. INSTRUCTED TO ENTER RAMP AT TXWY E11 AND CONTACT RAMP CTL. WE INFORMED RAMP CTL THAT OUR GATE WAS OCCUPIED, RAMP CTL INSTRUCTED US TO HOLD BEHIND A B737 ON EXTENSION OF TXWY E12. TRAVELING S ON RAMP I DEVIATED SLIGHTLY TO THE L OF TAXI-LINE TO AVOID A STATIONARY SANDING TRUCK. I THEN ATTEMPTED A 90 DEG L TURN TO POS MY ACFT BEHIND THE ACFT ON TXWY E12. AT THAT POINT THE ACFT BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO BOTH STEERING AND BRAKING INPUTS. THE ACFT BEGAN TO SLIDE AND CONTINUED OFF THE TXWY ONTO THE GRASS AND STOPPED. TXWY HAD SOME SAND ALONG TAXI-LINE BUT IT APPEARS THAT THERE WAS NONE ON OTHER PARTS OF THE RAMP. I FEEL THAT THE JET WASH FROM ACFT STATIONARY ON TXWY E12 CONTRIBUTED TO MY ACFT'S INABILITY TO RESPOND TO STEERING AND BRAKING COMMANDS ON ICY TXWY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO ACFT DAMAGE. I RECOMMEND THAT ALL ACFT MOVEMENT BE LIMITED TO THOSE AREAS THAT HAVE BEEN ADEQUATELY SANDED.
