An air carrier FK10 flight crew failed to comply with a crossing restriction clearance as a result of a faulty FMS profile. 5 mi prior to the aircraft's arrival at the restr, the controller queried if the flight crew was going to be able to make krena at the assigned altitude. The flight crew could not, and received vectors from the controller.

Narrative:
Center cleared us to cross krena at 10000 ft. While descending 1000 FPM in profile, the captain set up the FMS for krena at 10000 ft. Profile failed to increase descent so as to cross krena at 10000 ft. About 4 mi prior to krena center queried us as to making krena at 10000 ft. We asked for tolerance on the restr and were vectored to 090 degrees and direct ord shortly thereafter. We crossed krena at about 13000 ft. No conflicts as far as we could tell. Lesson learned, backup the automatic features of the aircraft.

WE ASKED FOR TOLERANCE ON THE RESTR AND WERE VECTORED TO 090 DEGS AND DIRECT ORD SHORTLY THEREAFTER. WE CROSSED KRENA AT ABOUT 13000 FT. NO CONFLICTS AS FAR AS WE COULD TELL.
