Narrative:

On initial climb out from cec we were assigned an altitude of 5000 ft. The captain was flying the short leg to acv. I was completing the after takeoff checklist, and upon completion noticed that we were climbing through 6300 ft. The captain noticed the altitude deviation at approximately the same time, and quickly returned us to our assigned altitude. I do not recall if I gave the '1000 ft to go' call, and I should have delayed the after takeoff checklist until reaching our low cruise altitude of 5000 ft. At the very least I should have been monitoring the progress of the flight more closely. The aircraft was not equipped with an altitude alert feature, although we did have our assigned altitude set in the standby display of the ADF. Also contributing to this oversight was my relative inexperience in the aircraft, and the fact that I was still getting comfortable with the checklists and procedures after not flying for 1 month while on reserve.

Title: DURING INITIAL CLB, A COMMUTER FLC OVERSHOT THEIR ASSIGNED ALT WHILE PERFORMING THE AFTER TKOF CHKLIST.

Narrative: ON INITIAL CLBOUT FROM CEC WE WERE ASSIGNED AN ALT OF 5000 FT. THE CAPT WAS FLYING THE SHORT LEG TO ACV. I WAS COMPLETING THE AFTER TKOF CHKLIST, AND UPON COMPLETION NOTICED THAT WE WERE CLBING THROUGH 6300 FT. THE CAPT NOTICED THE ALT DEV AT APPROX THE SAME TIME, AND QUICKLY RETURNED US TO OUR ASSIGNED ALT. I DO NOT RECALL IF I GAVE THE '1000 FT TO GO' CALL, AND I SHOULD HAVE DELAYED THE AFTER TKOF CHKLIST UNTIL REACHING OUR LOW CRUISE ALT OF 5000 FT. AT THE VERY LEAST I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE PROGRESS OF THE FLT MORE CLOSELY. THE ACFT WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH AN ALT ALERT FEATURE, ALTHOUGH WE DID HAVE OUR ASSIGNED ALT SET IN THE STANDBY DISPLAY OF THE ADF. ALSO CONTRIBUTING TO THIS OVERSIGHT WAS MY RELATIVE INEXPERIENCE IN THE ACFT, AND THE FACT THAT I WAS STILL GETTING COMFORTABLE WITH THE CHKLISTS AND PROCS AFTER NOT FLYING FOR 1 MONTH WHILE ON RESERVE.
