Narrative:

Long day, climbing out of atl for mdw. WX IMC in moderate chop. I was working radio, new copilot flying. We were cleared to FL310 but reclred to FL290. I was in the process of checking cabin temperature to keep it cool due to moderate chop. Copilot looked up to check valve position and altitude alert went off. I looked down to see aircraft climbing through FL290. As we both grabbed yoke to return to FL290, center asked 'verify you are at FL290.' I said we would be immediately. No conflict occurred.
