Narrative:

The communications sites at nassau 134.8 and 125.7 are OTS. The appropriate ATC sectors at miami ARTCC 59, 60, 61 do not have adequate frequency coverage to serve the aircraft in their sectors. Communications have been effected via relays and using large areas with no communications. The sectors have continued to be operated in a radar environment diminishing safety and increasing the potential for an incident or accident. In addition, due to frequency limitations, sectors 59 and 60 combined cannot be decombined, leading to an overloaded sector during maximum traffic volume. This presents a hazard to the controllers working the position. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the frequencys that failed have been returned to service.

Title: ATC EQUIP PROB COM FREQS OTS.

Narrative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
