Narrative:

While taking off from mci, the WX had come down more than I expected. While told to maintain VFR below 3000 ft, I climbed through a cloud en route to my destination. I then switched to approach and used a lot of VOR and vector assistance to get to my destination. I guess I was just intimidated by the busy airport and didn't want to ask for a clearance through the clouds and didn't want to cruise at 1000 ft AGL.
