Narrative:

We were cleared to back taxi into position and hold on runway 2 at new haven. The taxi back was about 2000 ft, during which time we completed our taxi checklist and initiated the before takeoff checklist. Normally, when given a 'position and hold' clearance, we do this checklist down to the item 'flight instruments.' we hold at that point until receiving takeoff clearance. After the long taxi back, however, I neglected to hold at that point and completed the checklist and began the takeoff roll. Tower then said, 'aircraft X continue to hold.' we stopped the takeoff roll after about 200 ft and returned to position and hold.

Title: NORMAL ROUTINE OF CLRNC ONTO RWY AND ACCOMPANYING CHKLIST WAS BROKEN DUE TO REQUIREMENT TO BACK TAXI ON RWY, CHKLIST COMPLETED, WHICH WAS VARIANCE FROM NORMAL, AND TKOF ROLL COMMENCED WITHOUT CLRNC. TWR INTERVENED AND TKOF ABORTED.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO BACK TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 2 AT NEW HAVEN. THE TAXI BACK WAS ABOUT 2000 FT, DURING WHICH TIME WE COMPLETED OUR TAXI CHKLIST AND INITIATED THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST. NORMALLY, WHEN GIVEN A 'POS AND HOLD' CLRNC, WE DO THIS CHKLIST DOWN TO THE ITEM 'FLT INSTRUMENTS.' WE HOLD AT THAT POINT UNTIL RECEIVING TKOF CLRNC. AFTER THE LONG TAXI BACK, HOWEVER, I NEGLECTED TO HOLD AT THAT POINT AND COMPLETED THE CHKLIST AND BEGAN THE TKOF ROLL. TWR THEN SAID, 'ACFT X CONTINUE TO HOLD.' WE STOPPED THE TKOF ROLL AFTER ABOUT 200 FT AND RETURNED TO POS AND HOLD.
