Narrative:

We had been given instructions to hold short of alley on taxiway J then ground cleared us into the alley to gate. A B767 was exiting the alley and I told ground control we would need to yield, they said okay. Once he was clear we taxied towards the alley into the ramp and ground said we should not have pulled in front of a B747 that was exiting the runway for the high speed. We continued and he said he had told us to hold short. We did not concur. The B747 could not have taxied past us, there was insufficient room. He rebounded that we had not been given clearance but were to hold short. We responded to our last clearance which was to taxi to the ramp from alley. The frequency was extremely congested however we did not hear a hold short instruction after we were cleared into the ramp.

Title: TAXI CLRNC MISCOM. FLC HOLDING FOR EXITING ACFT. WHEN IT WAS CLR THEY COMMENCED TAXI TO GATE. GND CTLR TOLD THEM THEY HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED TO HOLD FOR EXITING B747 OFF THE HIGH SPD. FLC SAYS NOT SO, AND THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH ROOM FOR A B747 TO GET BY THEM ANYWAY.

Narrative: WE HAD BEEN GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD SHORT OF ALLEY ON TXWY J THEN GND CLRED US INTO THE ALLEY TO GATE. A B767 WAS EXITING THE ALLEY AND I TOLD GND CTL WE WOULD NEED TO YIELD, THEY SAID OKAY. ONCE HE WAS CLR WE TAXIED TOWARDS THE ALLEY INTO THE RAMP AND GND SAID WE SHOULD NOT HAVE PULLED IN FRONT OF A B747 THAT WAS EXITING THE RWY FOR THE HIGH SPD. WE CONTINUED AND HE SAID HE HAD TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT. WE DID NOT CONCUR. THE B747 COULD NOT HAVE TAXIED PAST US, THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT ROOM. HE REBOUNDED THAT WE HAD NOT BEEN GIVEN CLRNC BUT WERE TO HOLD SHORT. WE RESPONDED TO OUR LAST CLRNC WHICH WAS TO TAXI TO THE RAMP FROM ALLEY. THE FREQ WAS EXTREMELY CONGESTED HOWEVER WE DID NOT HEAR A HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION AFTER WE WERE CLRED INTO THE RAMP.
