Narrative:

After landing at washington national on runway 36 tower advised us to use any exit including runway 33 to taxi to our gate. I turned left onto runway 33 with intentions of exiting this runway at taxiway south which would have been a direct route to our assigned gate. While taxiing on runway 33 another aircraft pushed back from gate #4 and momentarily had my route blocked to the gate. At this time tower asked us if our gate (#2) was open. We replied it was and tower told us to taxi to our gate. I decided at this time, so as not to remain on runway 33 too long, to taxi to the end of runway 33 and use taxiway left for an altitude route to our gate. I saw some construction equipment at this taxiway but also saw that it was still open. As I entered the taxiway I realized the taxiway was narrow due to the construction but I was already in a position in which I was unable to turn around. I proceeded very slowly and taxied to our gate without incident. Once I arrived at the gate I doublechked the NOTAMS for washington and found I had missed one of the numerous NOTAMS stating that this taxiway was open, but to aircraft no larger than a G4. What really caused the problem was my missing the NOTAM stating no aircraft larger than G4 could use this taxiway. But seeing an altitude route to the gate, being told to taxi to our gate and being on an active runway caused my decision to use this taxiway. Also I feel that this specific requirement should have been stated on the ATIS report which it was not.

Title: IN AN EFFORT TO GET TO THEIR GATE THIS FLC TAXIED ONTO A TXWY, UNDER CONSTRUCTION, THAT WAS RESTRICTED TO ACFT SMALLER THAN THEIRS. THE FLC ADMITS THAT THEY MISSED THE NOTAM CONCERNING THE TXWY ALTHOUGH IT WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION. NO DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE ACFT.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG AT WASHINGTON NATIONAL ON RWY 36 TWR ADVISED US TO USE ANY EXIT INCLUDING RWY 33 TO TAXI TO OUR GATE. I TURNED L ONTO RWY 33 WITH INTENTIONS OF EXITING THIS RWY AT TXWY S WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIRECT RTE TO OUR ASSIGNED GATE. WHILE TAXIING ON RWY 33 ANOTHER ACFT PUSHED BACK FROM GATE #4 AND MOMENTARILY HAD MY RTE BLOCKED TO THE GATE. AT THIS TIME TWR ASKED US IF OUR GATE (#2) WAS OPEN. WE REPLIED IT WAS AND TWR TOLD US TO TAXI TO OUR GATE. I DECIDED AT THIS TIME, SO AS NOT TO REMAIN ON RWY 33 TOO LONG, TO TAXI TO THE END OF RWY 33 AND USE TXWY L FOR AN ALT RTE TO OUR GATE. I SAW SOME CONSTRUCTION EQUIP AT THIS TXWY BUT ALSO SAW THAT IT WAS STILL OPEN. AS I ENTERED THE TXWY I REALIZED THE TXWY WAS NARROW DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION BUT I WAS ALREADY IN A POS IN WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO TURN AROUND. I PROCEEDED VERY SLOWLY AND TAXIED TO OUR GATE WITHOUT INCIDENT. ONCE I ARRIVED AT THE GATE I DOUBLECHKED THE NOTAMS FOR WASHINGTON AND FOUND I HAD MISSED ONE OF THE NUMEROUS NOTAMS STATING THAT THIS TXWY WAS OPEN, BUT TO ACFT NO LARGER THAN A G4. WHAT REALLY CAUSED THE PROB WAS MY MISSING THE NOTAM STATING NO ACFT LARGER THAN G4 COULD USE THIS TXWY. BUT SEEING AN ALT RTE TO THE GATE, BEING TOLD TO TAXI TO OUR GATE AND BEING ON AN ACTIVE RWY CAUSED MY DECISION TO USE THIS TXWY. ALSO I FEEL THAT THIS SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN STATED ON THE ATIS RPT WHICH IT WAS NOT.
