Narrative:
Plting a cessna 182 at night, I inadvertently penetrated a temporary flight restr set up around the united nations building. I had been unaware that there was a tfr in effect. This was because I failed to get a preflight briefing prior to the flight, which began and ended at frg. It was a clear, windless night -- perfect night VFR. I have made this flight (a 'tour' around manhattan) many times before. For that reason, I was complacent about the need for a briefing. However, I would like to note that neither I nor the FBO I fly with received any mailings advising of the plans for a tfr in manhattan. Had I received one, I doubt that I would have made this error. I believe it would be appropriate for all flight schools to re-emphasize the need for a preflight briefing even when conditions seem perfect and the planned flight is short.

Title: AN SMA ENTERED A TEMPORARY SPECIAL USE AIRSPACE TEMPORARY RESTR AREA AROUND THE UNITED NATIONS BUILDING.
Narrative: PLTING A CESSNA 182 AT NIGHT, I INADVERTENTLY PENETRATED A TEMPORARY FLT RESTR SET UP AROUND THE UNITED NATIONS BUILDING. I HAD BEEN UNAWARE THAT THERE WAS A TFR IN EFFECT. THIS WAS BECAUSE I FAILED TO GET A PREFLT BRIEFING PRIOR TO THE FLT, WHICH BEGAN AND ENDED AT FRG. IT WAS A CLR, WINDLESS NIGHT -- PERFECT NIGHT VFR. I HAVE MADE THIS FLT (A 'TOUR' AROUND MANHATTAN) MANY TIMES BEFORE. FOR THAT REASON, I WAS COMPLACENT ABOUT THE NEED FOR A BRIEFING. HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO NOTE THAT NEITHER I NOR THE FBO I FLY WITH RECEIVED ANY MAILINGS ADVISING OF THE PLANS FOR A TFR IN MANHATTAN. HAD I RECEIVED ONE, I DOUBT THAT I WOULD HAVE MADE THIS ERROR. I BELIEVE IT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR ALL FLT SCHOOLS TO RE-EMPHASIZE THE NEED FOR A PREFLT BRIEFING EVEN WHEN CONDITIONS SEEM PERFECT AND THE PLANNED FLT IS SHORT.
