Narrative:

Engineer overfueled DC8 aircraft by about 8000 pounds. Did not advise captain at takeoff or upon arrival in miami. I don't know if he adjusted speeds for true aircraft weight or not for takeoff and lndgs. Although no structural or performance figures were affected, aircraft bug speed would change about plus 2 KTS. Discovered over-fuel 2 days after occurrence. Flight engineer has never owned up to an error. It may have been an adding error, etc. However, gal uplift never agreed with arrival fuel. Example: arrival fuel 20000 pounds plus gal uplift 1250 gals equals 28000 pounds. Since 2 fuel trucks were used, I believe only 1 fuel ticket was crosschecked leading engineer to believe fuel load correct, with order from captain.

Title: CARGO FLT HAS ABOUT 8000 LBS OF OVER-FUEL.

Narrative: ENGINEER OVERFUELED DC8 ACFT BY ABOUT 8000 LBS. DID NOT ADVISE CAPT AT TKOF OR UPON ARR IN MIAMI. I DON'T KNOW IF HE ADJUSTED SPDS FOR TRUE ACFT WT OR NOT FOR TKOF AND LNDGS. ALTHOUGH NO STRUCTURAL OR PERFORMANCE FIGURES WERE AFFECTED, ACFT BUG SPD WOULD CHANGE ABOUT PLUS 2 KTS. DISCOVERED OVER-FUEL 2 DAYS AFTER OCCURRENCE. FE HAS NEVER OWNED UP TO AN ERROR. IT MAY HAVE BEEN AN ADDING ERROR, ETC. HOWEVER, GAL UPLIFT NEVER AGREED WITH ARR FUEL. EXAMPLE: ARR FUEL 20000 LBS PLUS GAL UPLIFT 1250 GALS EQUALS 28000 LBS. SINCE 2 FUEL TRUCKS WERE USED, I BELIEVE ONLY 1 FUEL TICKET WAS XCHKED LEADING ENGINEER TO BELIEVE FUEL LOAD CORRECT, WITH ORDER FROM CAPT.
