Narrative:
Initial flight of experimental 'cuby.' power loss shortly after takeoff, landed in a field with no damage. Apparently power loss caused by dirt particles in fuel system which were not properly cleaned out before flight. Problem was not apparent in static and taxi tests. I should have been more careful in insisting that the fuel system be checked for contamination.

Title: PLT OF A HOME BUILT EXPERIMENTAL SMA SEL MADE AN OFF ARPT FORCED LNDG DUE TO PWR LOSS AFTER TKOF. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT.
Narrative: INITIAL FLT OF EXPERIMENTAL 'CUBY.' PWR LOSS SHORTLY AFTER TKOF, LANDED IN A FIELD WITH NO DAMAGE. APPARENTLY PWR LOSS CAUSED BY DIRT PARTICLES IN FUEL SYS WHICH WERE NOT PROPERLY CLEANED OUT BEFORE FLT. PROB WAS NOT APPARENT IN STATIC AND TAXI TESTS. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CAREFUL IN INSISTING THAT THE FUEL SYS BE CHKED FOR CONTAMINATION.
