Narrative:

Airplane diverted to salt lake city with low hydraulic pressure lights on for both engine driven pumps. Mycarta scraps were found in both a and B hydraulic reservoirs' depressurization valves. At XA45 am on aug/mon/95 I was advised by my lead to go out to my gate and wire the GPWS for the flight crew. When I arrived at the gate the first officer came up to me and said there was hydraulic fluid leaking in the wheel well area on the ground. We both went over there and looked at the reservoirs and wheel well area and noticed the reservoirs to be svced to full and some residual fluid in the well area. I told the first officer I thought it was, ok, just a little residual fluid and he wanted to know if I was going to pull any panels to see where the fluid was coming from. I said I thought it was from servicing and I would check it again after running the electric pumps. I went upstairs and safety tied both GPWS switch guards and then said I would go down and look at the area again. With the electric pumps on I looked at the lines coming off the pumps and the lines coming off the reservoir, and the reservoir drain petcocks. Everything was dry and I saw no evidence of leakage, which is what the flight crew and myself were concerned about. I went to the tractor and called up on the headset and informed the crew that it was dry around the pumps and reservoirs and I saw no leaks. They were happy with this news and I pushed the airplane out. They never said anything about the pressurization problem to me and I never looked at the depressurization valves which are up on a platform over my head. I was notified about the diversion to salt lake city about 45 mins later by a maintenance supervisor.

Title: ACFT EQUIP PROB -- ACR HAS TO DIVERT WHEN CONTAMINATION OF THE HYD FLUID CAUSES A DEPRESSURIZATION OF THE SYS AND A LOSS OF FLUID.

Narrative: AIRPLANE DIVERTED TO SALT LAKE CITY WITH LOW HYD PRESSURE LIGHTS ON FOR BOTH ENG DRIVEN PUMPS. MYCARTA SCRAPS WERE FOUND IN BOTH A AND B HYD RESERVOIRS' DEPRESSURIZATION VALVES. AT XA45 AM ON AUG/MON/95 I WAS ADVISED BY MY LEAD TO GO OUT TO MY GATE AND WIRE THE GPWS FOR THE FLC. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE GATE THE FO CAME UP TO ME AND SAID THERE WAS HYD FLUID LEAKING IN THE WHEEL WELL AREA ON THE GND. WE BOTH WENT OVER THERE AND LOOKED AT THE RESERVOIRS AND WHEEL WELL AREA AND NOTICED THE RESERVOIRS TO BE SVCED TO FULL AND SOME RESIDUAL FLUID IN THE WELL AREA. I TOLD THE FO I THOUGHT IT WAS, OK, JUST A LITTLE RESIDUAL FLUID AND HE WANTED TO KNOW IF I WAS GOING TO PULL ANY PANELS TO SEE WHERE THE FLUID WAS COMING FROM. I SAID I THOUGHT IT WAS FROM SVCING AND I WOULD CHK IT AGAIN AFTER RUNNING THE ELECTRIC PUMPS. EVERYTHING WAS DRY AND I SAW NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE, WHICH IS WHAT THE FLC AND MYSELF WERE CONCERNED ABOUT. THEY NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE PRESSURIZATION PROB TO ME AND I NEVER LOOKED AT THE DEPRESSURIZATION VALVES WHICH ARE UP ON A PLATFORM OVER MY HEAD. I WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE DIVERSION TO SALT LAKE CITY ABOUT 45 MINS LATER BY A MAINT SUPVR.
