Narrative:

During departure to north from dfw airport we, air carrier X, departed ahead of air carrier Y. After we were established eastbound, it became apparent the controller had some confusion with the similar call signs. After some changes in airspeed for us and heading changes for air carrier Y, he mentioned the similar call signs (we were already aware) and the situation was resolved. No conflict at any time.
