Narrative:

During takeoff roll, left aircraft brake not released causing overheat situation from friction. Aborted takeoff due to control difficulty. Fire resulted from overheating. Evacuate/evacuationed the aircraft immediately and extinguished fire. No injuries or major damage to aircraft. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the captain was flying a bae jetstream 31 when the brake fire occurred. He said that the rejected takeoff was at low speed. They realized the brake had not released shortly after they began their roll. They were surprised that the fire started and they now suspect that the brake may have been lightly dragging during taxi-out. There were no injuries during the evacuate/evacuation and only minor damage to the aircraft.

Title: ACFT EQUIP PROB -- GND FIRE -- ACFT EVACUATED -- ACR REJECTS TKOF DUE TO DRAGGING BRAKE.

Narrative: DURING TKOF ROLL, L ACFT BRAKE NOT RELEASED CAUSING OVERHEAT SIT FROM FRICTION. ABORTED TKOF DUE TO CTL DIFFICULTY. FIRE RESULTED FROM OVERHEATING. EVACED THE ACFT IMMEDIATELY AND EXTINGUISHED FIRE. NO INJURIES OR MAJOR DAMAGE TO ACFT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE CAPT WAS FLYING A BAE JETSTREAM 31 WHEN THE BRAKE FIRE OCCURRED. HE SAID THAT THE REJECTED TKOF WAS AT LOW SPD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES DURING THE EVAC AND ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO THE ACFT.
