Narrative:

Given heading of 250 degrees during climb to FL350. Cleared direct to mol, first officer initiated turn toward csn rather than mol. First officer requested heading to intercept csn radial outbound, center gave turn to 270 degrees due to other FL310 traffic to south. Oil needing servicing at the next station, problem would not have occurred except for company requirement to call in all maintenance discrepancies. Center asked for expedited climb and traffic was never seriously close.
