Air carrier X initial TCASII 'traffic' alert came on with target at 9 mi in front of us converging, and 800 ft below and climbing. RA began at 400 ft below and climbing. Performed RA recommended climb. Advised ATC of climb and acquired visual contact with air carrier Y, a B727. Supplemental information from acn 311797: opposite direction traffic air carrier Y B727 climbing to FL290 through our altitude on J45. This happened at the dividing line between ZTL and ZJX.
