Narrative:
Other aircraft was downwind runway 24 at vkx. After my runup, I did a '360 degree' to clear traffic. I could not see other aircraft on downwind. They announced base leg. I announced I was departing still could not see them. As I pulled onto runway, they called final. As I started my takeoff roll, they announced go around and complained I pulled in front of them. Airport is in a valley, low traffic in pattern is hard to see. Runway 24 was in use but winds aloft were from the north. Other aircraft might have used a tighter pattern than normal and had faster ground speed than I expected. In the future, I will make earlier contact if plane has called base (leg).
