Narrative:

As the first officer and PF, we were operating saab 340 on 6000 ft MSL downwind and cleared for a visual approach. During the approach checks and before landing checks, we were never told to contact the tower, and during the landing did not realize we were still with approach until exiting the runway. Without the handoff, and the short approach, we just plain forgot to switch to tower. We contacted ground and were instructed to taxi to the gate.
