Narrative:

Normal revenue flight from ord-atl. After pushback and while taxiing, ATC rerted our flight due to WX along our intended route. Contacted chicago dispatch for a revised flight plan and fuel burn. Since the rerte required more fuel for dispatch, we returned to gate to increase our fuel load. After airborne, the WX had improved and we were cleared a more direct route to atl. This, of course, decreased our fuel burn and we landed at 156800 pounds. Maximum landing weight is 154500 pounds. I deemed it as safe to land overweight as to dump fuel.
