Originator conducting VOR runway 13 approach at sgj under VFR conditions. Switched from approach control to advisory frequency. Continuing approach to missed approach point at VOR. Traffic conflict occurred during portion of approach that crossed into VFR pattern area. To prevent a recurrence, discontinue approach prior to entering VFR pattern area.

Narrative: ORIGINATOR CONDUCTING VOR RWY 13 APCH AT SGJ UNDER VFR CONDITIONS. SWITCHED FROM APCH CTL TO ADVISORY FREQ. CONTINUING APCH TO MISSED APCH POINT AT VOR. TFC CONFLICT OCCURRED DURING PORTION OF APCH THAT CROSSED INTO VFR PATTERN AREA. TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE, DISCONTINUE APCH PRIOR TO ENTERING VFR PATTERN AREA.
