Narrative:

We were cleared to exit robrt intersection heading 220 degrees to intercept the runway 19R localizer. We were doing our approach checklist and mistakenly passed the interception. The controller queried us and gave us a new heading to intercept and clearance for approach. I would say that the 2 of us focused too much on the checklist and not on minding the store, resulting in the missed intercept. I feel that completing the checklist is something which I will, in the future, insist upon completing earlier (such as, as soon as we know which approach to expect). Also, dividing attention between checklists and aircraft position (situational awareness) better would help to avert a repeat of this action.

Title: FLC OF AN LTT FAILED TO TURN FINAL AFTER INTERCEPTING THE LOC DURING AN ATC VECTOR AND CLRED FOR THE APCH.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO EXIT ROBRT INTXN HDG 220 DEGS TO INTERCEPT THE RWY 19R LOC. WE WERE DOING OUR APCH CHKLIST AND MISTAKENLY PASSED THE INTERCEPTION. THE CTLR QUERIED US AND GAVE US A NEW HDG TO INTERCEPT AND CLRNC FOR APCH. I WOULD SAY THAT THE 2 OF US FOCUSED TOO MUCH ON THE CHKLIST AND NOT ON MINDING THE STORE, RESULTING IN THE MISSED INTERCEPT. I FEEL THAT COMPLETING THE CHKLIST IS SOMETHING WHICH I WILL, IN THE FUTURE, INSIST UPON COMPLETING EARLIER (SUCH AS, AS SOON AS WE KNOW WHICH APCH TO EXPECT). ALSO, DIVIDING ATTN BTWN CHKLISTS AND ACFT POS (SITUATIONAL AWARENESS) BETTER WOULD HELP TO AVERT A REPEAT OF THIS ACTION.
