Narrative:

New so on 1ST IOE trip copied slc ATIS for us on takeoff/land card, failed to include notation about runway under construction and the caution noted on ATIS about not lining up on the runway under construction. Initially told to expect a visual approach to runway 35, we briefed for that approach. Close-in, we were reclred for visual to runway 34. We hurriedly set up for that approach. Localizer and OM were OTS for runway 34. I looked at my runway 34 ILS approach chart and noted that runway 34 was the w-most runway depicted on the chart. Hurriedly flipped through my charts to confirm the runway (since localizer was inoperative), and found 'low visibility taxi rtes' chart for slc. Chart said that runway 34 was indeed the w-most runway. Neither low visibility, or runway 34 approach chart depicted runway under construction. As a 3RD and final check, I asked the captain to confirm that runway 34 was to the far west side. He agreed. It was dusk, no localizer and lacking sufficient information, we lined up on the runway to the far west, which was the runway under construction. About 3 mi out, tower called to make sure we were lined up on runway 34. We side- stepped to runway 34 and landed without incident.

Title: AN ACR LGT LINED UP ON A RWY UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Narrative: NEW SO ON 1ST IOE TRIP COPIED SLC ATIS FOR US ON TKOF/LAND CARD, FAILED TO INCLUDE NOTATION ABOUT RWY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND THE CAUTION NOTED ON ATIS ABOUT NOT LINING UP ON THE RWY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. INITIALLY TOLD TO EXPECT A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 35, WE BRIEFED FOR THAT APCH. CLOSE-IN, WE WERE RECLRED FOR VISUAL TO RWY 34. WE HURRIEDLY SET UP FOR THAT APCH. LOC AND OM WERE OTS FOR RWY 34. I LOOKED AT MY RWY 34 ILS APCH CHART AND NOTED THAT RWY 34 WAS THE W-MOST RWY DEPICTED ON THE CHART. HURRIEDLY FLIPPED THROUGH MY CHARTS TO CONFIRM THE RWY (SINCE LOC WAS INOP), AND FOUND 'LOW VISIBILITY TAXI RTES' CHART FOR SLC. CHART SAID THAT RWY 34 WAS INDEED THE W-MOST RWY. NEITHER LOW VISIBILITY, OR RWY 34 APCH CHART DEPICTED RWY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. AS A 3RD AND FINAL CHK, I ASKED THE CAPT TO CONFIRM THAT RWY 34 WAS TO THE FAR W SIDE. HE AGREED. IT WAS DUSK, NO LOC AND LACKING SUFFICIENT INFO, WE LINED UP ON THE RWY TO THE FAR W, WHICH WAS THE RWY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. ABOUT 3 MI OUT, TWR CALLED TO MAKE SURE WE WERE LINED UP ON RWY 34. WE SIDE- STEPPED TO RWY 34 AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
