Narrative:

Just prior to lift-off on my takeoff, another pilot transmitted on the unicom frequency that she was 'going around' on her approach to landing. She said that she was on final approach when I took the runway for departure and that she had made an 'on final' radio transmission on unicom frequency. Apparently, I did not hear her transmission and I did not see this aircraft, even though I visually inspected the approach corridor prior to taxiing onto the runway. Several factors may have contributed to this situation: my inexperience in aircraft type which may have led to preoccupation with pre-departure checklists and run-up procedures to the detriment of my concentration on radio xmissions, my relative inexperience in flying from uncontrolled GA airports, which may have led me to expect to see other airplanes at certain altitudes/distances from the runway when in fact this aircraft was probably in a position relative to the runway that I did not expect, and the probable head-on aspect of the landing aircraft combined with the hazy visibility probably made the aircraft more difficult to see. Lessons learned: be more attentive to xmissions on the CTAF and make a more thorough visual inspection of the airport traffic pattern before taxiing onto the runway.

Title: NMAC AT A NON TWR ARPT.

Narrative: JUST PRIOR TO LIFT-OFF ON MY TKOF, ANOTHER PLT XMITTED ON THE UNICOM FREQ THAT SHE WAS 'GOING AROUND' ON HER APCH TO LNDG. SHE SAID THAT SHE WAS ON FINAL APCH WHEN I TOOK THE RWY FOR DEP AND THAT SHE HAD MADE AN 'ON FINAL' RADIO XMISSION ON UNICOM FREQ. APPARENTLY, I DID NOT HEAR HER XMISSION AND I DID NOT SEE THIS ACFT, EVEN THOUGH I VISUALLY INSPECTED THE APCH CORRIDOR PRIOR TO TAXIING ONTO THE RWY. SEVERAL FACTORS MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS SIT: MY INEXPERIENCE IN ACFT TYPE WHICH MAY HAVE LED TO PREOCCUPATION WITH PRE-DEP CHKLISTS AND RUN-UP PROCS TO THE DETRIMENT OF MY CONCENTRATION ON RADIO XMISSIONS, MY RELATIVE INEXPERIENCE IN FLYING FROM UNCTLED GA ARPTS, WHICH MAY HAVE LED ME TO EXPECT TO SEE OTHER AIRPLANES AT CERTAIN ALTS/DISTANCES FROM THE RWY WHEN IN FACT THIS ACFT WAS PROBABLY IN A POS RELATIVE TO THE RWY THAT I DID NOT EXPECT, AND THE PROBABLE HEAD-ON ASPECT OF THE LNDG ACFT COMBINED WITH THE HAZY VISIBILITY PROBABLY MADE THE ACFT MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE.
