Narrative:

In a twin commander (AC50) we deviated from assigned MEA altitude because of heavy ice accumulation. Able to navigation around terrain VFR after dropping to about 9000 ft where we shed ice and continued VFR to greely VFR. I was not a crew member on this or any other flight in this airplane, however, my phone number was used as reference on the flight plan.
