Narrative:

Inside of the marker, the student pilot was requested to report the marker by the tower. The student pilot did not do so since he was requested to contact the tower by approach once inside the marker (lateral handoff). The tower scolded the student for missing the report. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states the aircraft was a bonanza 33. His sequence of events as stated on the reporting form was mixed up. Approach told him to contact tower inside the marker. Since he was already inside the marker he was confused and made no contact. Then the tower scolded him for not reporting position. There was a review with tower personnel, but no other follow-up.
