Narrative:

On a VFR flight from sna to visalia, I may have entered class B airspace without ATC clearance. I was climbing out of sna on a 330 degree heading with socal clearance. Radar service was terminated at 2500 ft and I proceeded to climb to cruising altitude of 8500 ft while flying a 27.5 DME arc from lax undergnd reference pilotage. I may have initiated a turn to the northwest after the pomona freeway rather than the 10 freeway due to misident of the freeways. As I proceeded to 24 DME I sighted the 210 freeway in the distance through haze. I turned north immediately until past the 10 freeway and well clear of class B airspace. I should have positively idented the 10 freeway through a VOR radial from pom or flown to an intercept outbound from pdz 280 degrees to positively avoid the class B airspace.

Title: SMA PLT ENTERS CLASS B AIRSPACE WHEN MISTAKING ONE FREEWAY FOR ANOTHER.

Narrative: ON A VFR FLT FROM SNA TO VISALIA, I MAY HAVE ENTERED CLASS B AIRSPACE WITHOUT ATC CLRNC. I WAS CLBING OUT OF SNA ON A 330 DEG HDG WITH SOCAL CLRNC. RADAR SVC WAS TERMINATED AT 2500 FT AND I PROCEEDED TO CLB TO CRUISING ALT OF 8500 FT WHILE FLYING A 27.5 DME ARC FROM LAX UNDERGND REF PILOTAGE. I MAY HAVE INITIATED A TURN TO THE NW AFTER THE POMONA FREEWAY RATHER THAN THE 10 FREEWAY DUE TO MISIDENT OF THE FREEWAYS. AS I PROCEEDED TO 24 DME I SIGHTED THE 210 FREEWAY IN THE DISTANCE THROUGH HAZE. I TURNED N IMMEDIATELY UNTIL PAST THE 10 FREEWAY AND WELL CLR OF CLASS B AIRSPACE. I SHOULD HAVE POSITIVELY IDENTED THE 10 FREEWAY THROUGH A VOR RADIAL FROM POM OR FLOWN TO AN INTERCEPT OUTBOUND FROM PDZ 280 DEGS TO POSITIVELY AVOID THE CLASS B AIRSPACE.
