Narrative:

We were cleared on a 225 degree heading to intercept J-75 as filed. FMC was programmed. Captain (PNF) resumed writing a required report on previous loss of all radios. Head down. Did not question heading until ATC asked our heading and assigned a new altitude. We had not intercepted but had gone through the airway and were parallelling it by 8.6 NM. First officer had neglected to arm the LNAV and also had not noticed it. When altitude or navigation changes are assigned all attention must be established by both pilots until accomplished and established.
