Narrative:

While participating in airshow at batten field, racine, wi, our aircraft act was to have 3 parachutists jump from aircraft 2 mi northwest of airport at 5000 ft. Airshow briefer did not cover proximity of batten field to mke class C airspace. After takeoff we climbed to 5000 ft on northwest heading to make 5 mi straight run over batten field on heading of 130 degrees. We were told after landing we had intruded slightly into mke class C airspace climbing to 5000 ft on northwest heading. Batten is only 3 mi outside mke 'C' and 5 mi run on 130 degrees extended into their airspace, which we apparently entered climbing to 5000 ft (their top 4700 ft MSL). We failed to realize we should have climbed well south of batten field before making chute drop run at 5000 ft AGL. (5700 ft MSL). In 23 previous shows this type of situation never arose. Can only say we were lulled into complacency, communicating with show, 'airboss,' and failed to check chart to notice proximity of mke. Also thought 'airboss' had arranged entire procedure as part of the airshow, also proximity of mke not pointed out (with cautions) at pre-show briefing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states the aircraft is a constellation 1958 vintage. It is operated as a tax exempt operation and used in airshows. The 'airboss' spoke with mke supervisor and smoothed things over so there has been no FAA follow up.

Title: CONSTELLATION FLC ON AIRSHOW FLT PENETRATES CLASS C AIRSPACE WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: WHILE PARTICIPATING IN AIRSHOW AT BATTEN FIELD, RACINE, WI, OUR ACFT ACT WAS TO HAVE 3 PARACHUTISTS JUMP FROM ACFT 2 MI NW OF ARPT AT 5000 FT. AIRSHOW BRIEFER DID NOT COVER PROX OF BATTEN FIELD TO MKE CLASS C AIRSPACE. AFTER TKOF WE CLBED TO 5000 FT ON NW HDG TO MAKE 5 MI STRAIGHT RUN OVER BATTEN FIELD ON HDG OF 130 DEGS. WE WERE TOLD AFTER LNDG WE HAD INTRUDED SLIGHTLY INTO MKE CLASS C AIRSPACE CLBING TO 5000 FT ON NW HDG. BATTEN IS ONLY 3 MI OUTSIDE MKE 'C' AND 5 MI RUN ON 130 DEGS EXTENDED INTO THEIR AIRSPACE, WHICH WE APPARENTLY ENTERED CLBING TO 5000 FT (THEIR TOP 4700 FT MSL). WE FAILED TO REALIZE WE SHOULD HAVE CLBED WELL S OF BATTEN FIELD BEFORE MAKING CHUTE DROP RUN AT 5000 FT AGL. (5700 FT MSL). IN 23 PREVIOUS SHOWS THIS TYPE OF SIT NEVER AROSE. CAN ONLY SAY WE WERE LULLED INTO COMPLACENCY, COMMUNICATING WITH SHOW, 'AIRBOSS,' AND FAILED TO CHK CHART TO NOTICE PROX OF MKE. ALSO THOUGHT 'AIRBOSS' HAD ARRANGED ENTIRE PROC AS PART OF THE AIRSHOW, ALSO PROX OF MKE NOT POINTED OUT (WITH CAUTIONS) AT PRE-SHOW BRIEFING. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THE ACFT IS A CONSTELLATION 1958 VINTAGE. IT IS OPERATED AS A TAX EXEMPT OP AND USED IN AIRSHOWS. THE 'AIRBOSS' SPOKE WITH MKE SUPVR AND SMOOTHED THINGS OVER SO THERE HAS BEEN NO FAA FOLLOW UP.
