Narrative:

On las to dfw flight, flight plan was filed as 'las, mead 8, bld, tbc, J76 lvs, J58 ama, boids 4 dfw.' this route was loaded in FMS with no transition from mead 8, just bld direct tbc. Upon receipt of pre departure clearance, this same flight plan routing was listed. However, in the ATC clearance section of the pre departure clearance 'mead 8, pgs, tbc, then as filed' was listed, with no mention of a transition. The pgs waypoint was inadvertently overlooked and was not loaded in the FMS. On climb out after passing bld we turned direct to tbc. Climbing through approximately 15000 ft, ZLA asked if we were flying the pgs transition. We replied 'no we were going direct tbc. Center than gave us a 35 degree right turn to 130 degrees for traffic. 2-3 mins later they reclred us direct tbc. We saw no traffic nor did we have any on the TCASII. The potential was there for a serious conflict however and probably would have been avoided if the ATC clearance section on our pre departure clearance had included the word 'transition' ie, 'mead 8, pgs transition, direct tbc, then as filed.' this is how a 'live' controller would have read the clearance to us. It would have more readily gotten our attention and the FMS waypoint loaded correctly since the transitioning for this SID is in our FMC database.

Title: HDG DEV. INCOMPLETE FMS LOADING.

Narrative: ON LAS TO DFW FLT, FLT PLAN WAS FILED AS 'LAS, MEAD 8, BLD, TBC, J76 LVS, J58 AMA, BOIDS 4 DFW.' THIS RTE WAS LOADED IN FMS WITH NO TRANSITION FROM MEAD 8, JUST BLD DIRECT TBC. UPON RECEIPT OF PDC, THIS SAME FLT PLAN ROUTING WAS LISTED. HOWEVER, IN THE ATC CLRNC SECTION OF THE PDC 'MEAD 8, PGS, TBC, THEN AS FILED' WAS LISTED, WITH NO MENTION OF A TRANSITION. THE PGS WAYPOINT WAS INADVERTENTLY OVERLOOKED AND WAS NOT LOADED IN THE FMS. ON CLBOUT AFTER PASSING BLD WE TURNED DIRECT TO TBC. CLBING THROUGH APPROX 15000 FT, ZLA ASKED IF WE WERE FLYING THE PGS TRANSITION. WE REPLIED 'NO WE WERE GOING DIRECT TBC. CTR THAN GAVE US A 35 DEG R TURN TO 130 DEGS FOR TFC. 2-3 MINS LATER THEY RECLRED US DIRECT TBC. WE SAW NO TFC NOR DID WE HAVE ANY ON THE TCASII. THE POTENTIAL WAS THERE FOR A SERIOUS CONFLICT HOWEVER AND PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE ATC CLRNC SECTION ON OUR PDC HAD INCLUDED THE WORD 'TRANSITION' IE, 'MEAD 8, PGS TRANSITION, DIRECT TBC, THEN AS FILED.' THIS IS HOW A 'LIVE' CTLR WOULD HAVE READ THE CLRNC TO US. IT WOULD HAVE MORE READILY GOTTEN OUR ATTN AND THE FMS WAYPOINT LOADED CORRECTLY SINCE THE TRANSITIONING FOR THIS SID IS IN OUR FMC DATABASE.
