Narrative:

On jun/mon/95, an air carrier B-727-200 transited iah. I adjusted both hydraulic pumps from 3150 and 3400 psi to 3000 psi by maintenance manual reference 'B' system pumps 29-12-11 page 204 paragraph 6C. I signed logbook off, but did not use a maintenance manual reference. I later discovered in the boeing maintenance manual under the trouble-shooting guide that states to change pumps if pressure is above 3100 psi, even though that maintenance manual gives us permission to adjust pressure with no limits as to high pressure before a pump can be adjusted.
