Narrative:

Problem occurred as a result of using duat for WX brief and calling FSS to file flight plan. Duat did not specify that there was a thunderstorm on the airport at rdu. The surface advisory did say that there were thunderstorms in al quadrants. Flight plan was filed with ATC with no alternate specified. None was needed due to the duat briefing. While airborne, ATC reported that rdu was no longer accepting arrs due to thunderstorm overhead. Diversion was made to tdf airport where a 1:15 wait was executed until the thunderstorms moved off.
