Narrative:

An explosive boom was heard and felt from the left side of the aircraft, followed by associated decrease in torque, rapid rise in itt followed by a decrease in overtemp light and a decrease in associated left engine oil pressure. Crew member also observed engine oil spewing from engine all over the cowling. Complied with air carrier and FAA approved policies, procedures, and checklists. Proceeded to nearest suitable airport (psm). Considered restart -- felt it prudent to secure engine. Maintained VMC conditions and controled flight. Declared an emergency, no fire indication, itt decreased upon shutdown, uneventful landing. Checklists completed, were engine failure, 1 engine inoperative, rudder limit light on, all normal checklists.
