Narrative:

During taxi to runway 18 dca, we were instructed to taxi up into position and hold. Captain verified verbally 'clear left.' I was busy, looking down at weight and balance to determine engine derate, balanced thrust and speeds. After nose of airplane was over hold short position, controller asked us to 'vacate runway.' airplane was on 2-3 mi final we were then instructed to remain in position and clearance was received for takeoff. Controller instructed airplane on approach to go around. Flight proceeded normally to mht. No evasive action. Communications problem with #1 head of communication replaced at dca.

Narrative: DURING TAXI TO RWY 18 DCA, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO TAXI UP INTO POS AND HOLD. CAPT VERIFIED VERBALLY 'CLR L.' I WAS BUSY, LOOKING DOWN AT WT AND BAL TO DETERMINE ENG DERATE, BALANCED THRUST AND SPDS. AFTER NOSE OF AIRPLANE WAS OVER HOLD SHORT POS, CTLR ASKED US TO 'VACATE RWY.' AIRPLANE WAS ON 2-3 MI FINAL WE WERE THEN INSTRUCTED TO REMAIN IN POS AND CLRNC WAS RECEIVED FOR TKOF. CTLR INSTRUCTED AIRPLANE ON APCH TO GAR. FLT PROCEEDED NORMALLY TO MHT. NO EVASIVE ACTION. COMS PROB WITH #1 HEAD OF COM REPLACED AT DCA.
