Narrative:

After performing the run-up, I contacted the tower for takeoff clearance. Tower cleared me for takeoff on runway 31R which I repeated. Just before I pulled onto the runway, I looked to my left and saw a cessna 206 or 210 on short final (150-200 yds) to runway 31R. I continued holding short as the other plane touched down and the controller came on the radio and apologized, obviously shaken by the event. After the other plane turned off of the active runway, the controller apologized again and cleared me to takeoff again. The controller never did tell me to hold short. There was radio silence until just as the other plane touched down. I don't know if he still didn't realize the other plane was on final, if he was that shaken after he realized the mistake, or if he thought the other plane was landing runway 31L.

Title: SMA CLRED FOR TKOF SAME RWY C210 WAS LNDG HAD LTSS. SYS ERROR.

Narrative: AFTER PERFORMING THE RUN-UP, I CONTACTED THE TWR FOR TKOF CLRNC. TWR CLRED ME FOR TKOF ON RWY 31R WHICH I REPEATED. JUST BEFORE I PULLED ONTO THE RWY, I LOOKED TO MY L AND SAW A CESSNA 206 OR 210 ON SHORT FINAL (150-200 YDS) TO RWY 31R. I CONTINUED HOLDING SHORT AS THE OTHER PLANE TOUCHED DOWN AND THE CTLR CAME ON THE RADIO AND APOLOGIZED, OBVIOUSLY SHAKEN BY THE EVENT. AFTER THE OTHER PLANE TURNED OFF OF THE ACTIVE RWY, THE CTLR APOLOGIZED AGAIN AND CLRED ME TO TKOF AGAIN. THE CTLR NEVER DID TELL ME TO HOLD SHORT. THERE WAS RADIO SILENCE UNTIL JUST AS THE OTHER PLANE TOUCHED DOWN. I DON'T KNOW IF HE STILL DIDN'T REALIZE THE OTHER PLANE WAS ON FINAL, IF HE WAS THAT SHAKEN AFTER HE REALIZED THE MISTAKE, OR IF HE THOUGHT THE OTHER PLANE WAS LNDG RWY 31L.
