Narrative:

We were broken off the approach at 12.5 DME and turned to parallel our traffic. We were at 5000 ft and told to expedite our descent to 1600 ft to break out and look for traffic at 9 O'clock. We were high because we were kept high inside aadam 7000 ft. This approach started bad and got worse. The problem was that we were kept high inside aadam. When we asked for lower we were given 6000 ft and later 5000 ft but we were now inside nthan. I got the impression we did not have enough stagger and he could not clear us for the approach. Eventually he had us fly 280 degrees and descend rapidly to 1600 ft. We saw the traffic just outside the bridge at 2000 ft. We were significantly off the centerline (north) and were not lined up until inside coyote point. There was no real danger for a turbo propeller but the high rate of descent could have been a problem.

Title: APCH PROC EVALUATION.

Narrative: WE WERE BROKEN OFF THE APCH AT 12.5 DME AND TURNED TO PARALLEL OUR TFC. WE WERE AT 5000 FT AND TOLD TO EXPEDITE OUR DSCNT TO 1600 FT TO BREAK OUT AND LOOK FOR TFC AT 9 O'CLOCK. WE WERE HIGH BECAUSE WE WERE KEPT HIGH INSIDE AADAM 7000 FT. THIS APCH STARTED BAD AND GOT WORSE. THE PROB WAS THAT WE WERE KEPT HIGH INSIDE AADAM. WHEN WE ASKED FOR LOWER WE WERE GIVEN 6000 FT AND LATER 5000 FT BUT WE WERE NOW INSIDE NTHAN. I GOT THE IMPRESSION WE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH STAGGER AND HE COULD NOT CLR US FOR THE APCH. EVENTUALLY HE HAD US FLY 280 DEGS AND DSND RAPIDLY TO 1600 FT. WE SAW THE TFC JUST OUTSIDE THE BRIDGE AT 2000 FT. WE WERE SIGNIFICANTLY OFF THE CTRLINE (N) AND WERE NOT LINED UP UNTIL INSIDE COYOTE POINT. THERE WAS NO REAL DANGER FOR A TURBO PROP BUT THE HIGH RATE OF DSCNT COULD HAVE BEEN A PROB.
