Narrative:

While level at 13000 ft on departure from phl, ZNY called our traffic (an air carrier Y) plane at 2 O'clock and 5 mi, 14500 ft. We told him we had the traffic in sight. He told us to maintain visual with the traffic and climb to 17000 ft. We did and as expected, got a TCASII advisory. We maintained visual at all times and the climb to 17000 ft was uneventful. Pilot in other aircraft made the statement he felt it was too close. We did not think so and felt it was a perfectly safe evolution.
