Narrative:

Flight was a part 121 cargo flight from mem to gtf. WX flight plan/release were reviewed and signed by captain and first officer prior to departure. While en route, captain noticed that the distance between several of the flight planned fixes well exceeded usable service volumes of navaids (over 300 NM on some) and our aircraft type is not equipped with long range navigation equipment. Our flight should never have been filed along such a route but we should have caught this error prior to departure. Company operates flight following system vice dispatch system. These types of errors are becoming commonplace in our system. Seems as if 'dispatchers' are not as careful since they don't have a 'ticket' at stake.
