Narrative:

While parked at the gate after completing a flight leg, an FAA inspector came aboard and found my life vest was out of date by 30 days. I have only, in the past, made sure the required number of life vests are on board. This is all we were ever told to do. My aircraft doesn't (can't) fly over water. Checking the date is a maintenance function, as in completing scheduled preventive maintenance.
