Narrative:

This was a case of the FMS providing faulty descent data to the flight crew and the flight crew failing to back up the data. Relying on the FMS to show the descent caused us to be too high to cross a published restr. Fortunately, we owned up to the error and were vectored off course in order to return to the restr at the proper altitude. It was embarrassing to us to have committed this error and we felt bad that we interrupted an otherwise smooth flow into one of our nation's busy airports -- lax. This human mistake caused us, once again, to redouble our efforts to be the most professional and meticulous airman possible.

Title: ALTDEV XING RESTR MISSED.

Narrative: THIS WAS A CASE OF THE FMS PROVIDING FAULTY DSCNT DATA TO THE FLC AND THE FLC FAILING TO BACK UP THE DATA. RELYING ON THE FMS TO SHOW THE DSCNT CAUSED US TO BE TOO HIGH TO CROSS A PUBLISHED RESTR. FORTUNATELY, WE OWNED UP TO THE ERROR AND WERE VECTORED OFF COURSE IN ORDER TO RETURN TO THE RESTR AT THE PROPER ALT. IT WAS EMBARRASSING TO US TO HAVE COMMITTED THIS ERROR AND WE FELT BAD THAT WE INTERRUPTED AN OTHERWISE SMOOTH FLOW INTO ONE OF OUR NATION'S BUSY ARPTS -- LAX.
