Narrative:
Departing ont, ca, on the prado 4 SID, we were given climb clearance from 7000 ft to 14000 ft. Passing 8000 ft we got a TCASII RA which we followed and returned to 8000 ft while advising the controller of our course of action. A small aircraft passed overhead at 9000 ft heading in the opposite direction. Had we been in IMC without TCASII there probably would have been a midair collision.

Title: EVASIVE ACTION DSCNT. TCASII GAVE A TIMELY WARNING TO THE FLC AND THEY STOPPED CLB AND DSNDED TO AVOID TFC.
